Summary: Scriptly collects absolutely no data. Everything — your recordings, transcriptions, and notes — stays entirely on your device. Nothing is ever sent to our servers or any third-party servers. We have no access to your content whatsoever.

Section 01

Who We Are

This Privacy Policy describes how Scriptly ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal information when you use the Scriptly mobile application (the "App") on iOS and Android devices.

By using Scriptly, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the App.

Contact: For any privacy-related questions, reach us at supp.scriptly@gmail.com

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we are the data controller responsible for your personal information under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Section 02

Data We Do Not Collect

Scriptly does not collect, transmit, or store any data on external servers. This is not a limitation — it is a deliberate design decision to protect your privacy completely.

We do not collect anything. No audio. No transcriptions. No notes. No usage data. No crash reports. No analytics. No account information. Nothing leaves your device.

Specifically, we do not collect:

We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not build any profile of you whatsoever.

Section 03

How the App Works

All of Scriptly's features operate entirely on your device using on-device processing. No internet connection is required for core functionality, and no data is ever transmitted externally.

We will NEVER: collect your data · send your audio or transcriptions to any server · use your content to train AI models · share anything about you with third parties · access your microphone except when you actively start a recording

Section 04

Data Storage & Security

4.1 Local Storage

All your recordings, transcriptions, notes, and folder structure are stored exclusively on your device. Your content is never uploaded to our servers or any cloud storage. Local data is protected by your device's built-in security (iOS Data Protection, Android Full Disk Encryption).

If you delete the App, locally stored data is removed in accordance with your device OS behavior.

4.2 Security Measures

Since all data is stored locally on your device, it is protected entirely by your device's built-in security mechanisms (iOS Data Protection / Android Full Disk Encryption). We have no servers, no databases, and no infrastructure that holds your data — so there is nothing for us to secure externally and nothing that can be breached on our end. If you discover a security issue with the App itself, please contact supp.scriptly@gmail.com immediately.

Section 05

Third-Party Services

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data to share. Scriptly has no backend, no analytics integrations, no crash reporting services, and no third-party SDKs that transmit data.

No data is shared with anyone — ever. There are no third-party services receiving your content, usage patterns, or any other information from this App.

5.1 In-App Purchases

If the App offers in-app purchases or subscriptions, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or handle your payment details. Please refer to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies for information on how they handle payment data.

5.2 Legal Disclosures

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing we could disclose in response to a legal request. Your data lives only on your device and is under your sole control.

Section 06

Data Retention

We retain no data — we collect none. All content you create in Scriptly (recordings, transcriptions, notes, folders) is stored exclusively on your device and remains there until you choose to delete it.

Data Type Where It Lives Who Controls It
Audio recordings Your device only You, entirely
Transcriptions and notes Your device only You, entirely
Imported MP3 / MP4 files Your device only You, entirely
Exported PDFs / Word files Your device only You, entirely

To delete your data, use the App's built-in deletion features or uninstall the App. We have no ability — and no desire — to access or delete data on your device remotely.

Section 07

Your Privacy Rights

7.1 Rights for All Users

7.2 EEA and UK Users (GDPR)

Because Scriptly collects no personal data, GDPR obligations regarding data access, rectification, erasure, and portability are satisfied by default — your data never leaves your device. You exercise all of these rights directly through the App or by uninstalling it. If you have questions, contact us at supp.scriptly@gmail.com. You may also contact your local data protection authority: edpb.europa.eu (EEA) or ico.org.uk (UK).

7.3 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

Because Scriptly does not collect, sell, or share any personal information, CCPA/CPRA rights to know, delete, correct, and opt-out are satisfied by default. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data. There is nothing we hold about you to disclose.

Section 08

Children's Privacy

Scriptly is intended for users aged 5 years and older. Children under 5 should not use the App without adult supervision.

Because Scriptly collects absolutely no data — from users of any age — there is no personal information from children to collect, store, or protect on our end. All content created by any user, including children, stays exclusively on the device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise young children's use of the App. If you have any questions about your child's use of Scriptly, contact us at supp.scriptly@gmail.com.

Section 09

Device Permissions

Scriptly requests the following device permissions:

PermissionPurposeRequired?
Microphone Recording audio for speech-to-text transcription Required for recording features
Storage / Files Accessing MP3/MP4 files for transcription; saving exported PDF/Word files Required for file import and export
Internet / Network Not required for core functionality. May be used if you share exported files via the system share sheet. Not required

Microphone Access: Scriptly only activates your microphone when you explicitly press the record button within the App. We never record audio passively, in the background, or when the App is closed.

On iOS 14+ and Android 12+, your device displays a visual microphone activity indicator whenever the microphone is in use — you can always verify that Scriptly is not recording in the background.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device Settings. Revoking microphone access disables recording but does not affect your ability to view notes or access previously created transcriptions.

Section 10

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will:

Your continued use of Scriptly after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree, you should stop using the App and may request deletion of your data by contacting us.

Section 11

Contact Us

For questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data:

We aim to respond to all privacy inquiries within 30 business days.
